Seattle Mariners Information
The Seattle Mariners are members of the American League West. They are one of eight teams to never win a World Series title and one of only two teams to never appear in the World Series. Their greatest success was in 1995, when they defeated the New York Yankees in an eleven-inning game for the American League Division Series and won their first division championship. They set the American League record for the most wins in a single season in 2001 with 116 games. They are owned by Nintendo of America, and are one of only three teams under corporate ownership. They have had six members in the Hall of Fame and have not retired any numbers. The Mariners finished above .500 for the first time since 2009 in 2014, and are making efforts to reach the post season in the coming seasons.

The Mariners play at Safeco Field, which holds up to 47,000 fans. The Mariners Hall of Fame is located at Safeco Field, which has inducted seven players thus far. The Mariners rivals include the Athletics, Orioles and Rangers. The rivalry with the Athletics became important in the early 2000s as the two teams were of the best in the American League. Both teams are built with similar philosophies, focused on pitching and balanced hitting, and are in the same division. The Orioles rivalry began with a brawl between Bill Hasselman and Mike Mussina after Mussina hit Hasselman with a pitch in 1993. This tension built in the 1997 American League Division series. The Rangers rivalry intensified from 1995 to 2001, when the Rangers and Mariners combined for 6 of 7 American League West titles. The Mariners have won two division titles in their history.
